Thank you Yves Saint Laurent for taking a gentlemen’s tuxedo more than four decades ago, and turning it’s gender upside down. After reading Mosha Lundstrom Halbert’s article, “Suit Yourself” for Flare’s September issue; it inspired me to suit up myself! Now, there are short-suits and skirt-suits but I am personally in love with the traditional pant-suit. This corporate fashion trend is designed for women who mean business. Or if you’re like me, I’m more interested in the styling aspect of it.
Suits on the street! (And the red carpet)

Fitted suits are expected on a women. It’s known to be “sexual” in a way and we see it all the time in movies. But you know what’s even more sexier? When a women pulls off the mannish look successfully.

Give me a printed silk or cashmere blouse to wear underneath my suit and I’ll be good to go! This is probably my favourite look when it comes to suiting up. That’s mostly because I have an obsession with blouses, but we’ll discuss that on a different blog post.

Bedazzled suits are a bit much for me but this look is very appropriate for a red carpet affair. Janelle Monae and suits are like peanut butter & jelly. An excellent combination.

Apart from looking fabulous in a suit, how important do you look out on the street? Olivia Palermo looks like she’s having a serious conversation with her lawyer when in reality, it’s probably just her boyfriend.
Thoughts on this upcoming fall trend? I think it’ll be a hit!
