This fashion blogger from Milan is invited to almost every big fashion show, regardless of location. Her day-to-day outfits on her blog are simply stunning. If I could have anyone’s wardrobe, it would be hers!
Thank you Yves Saint Laurent for taking a gentlemen’s tuxedo more than four decades ago, and turning it’s gender upside down. After reading Mosha Lundstrom Halbert’s article, “Suit Yourself” for Flare’s September issue; it inspired me to suit up myself! Now, there are short-suits and skirt-suits but I am personally in love with the traditional pant-suit. This corporate fashion trend is designed for women who mean business. Or if you’re like me, I’m more interested in the styling aspect of it.
Suits on the street! (And the red carpet)
Fitted suits are expected on a women. It’s known to be “sexual” in a way and we see it all the time in movies. But you know what’s even more sexier? When a women pulls off the mannish look successfully.
Give me a printed silk or cashmere blouse to wear underneath my suit and I’ll be good to go! This is probably my favourite look when it comes to suiting up. That’s mostly because I have an obsession with blouses, but we’ll discuss that on a different blog post.
Bedazzled suits are a bit much for me but this look is very appropriate for a red carpet affair. Janelle Monae and suits are like peanut butter & jelly. An excellent combination.
Apart from looking fabulous in a suit, how important do you look out on the street? Olivia Palermo looks like she’s having a serious conversation with her lawyer when in reality, it’s probably just her boyfriend.
Thoughts on this upcoming fall trend? I think it’ll be a hit!
This whole myth that stripes add more weight to your body is bogus! You just gotta find the right kind of stripes for you. And honestly, I am obsessed with this summer trend. Especially when it comes to striped pants. Not only are they adorable and chic, they add that bold and daring element to your look. I recently just bought a pair of red and white striped pants from Zara for only $19.99! What a steal! Now, I am on the lookout for a classic black and white, side striped pants!
Here are some killer stripes inspired street style looks:
Miley Cyrus may be an outfit repeater, but we are outfit rememberers. And I’m talking more about her everyday, on the street looks. Miley is the one celebrity who really plays around with her outfits in her everyday life. She doesn’t have that one distinct style but seems to always add the ‘edge’ element to every outfit – even on the red carpet.
Time to pack up the nudes and blacks (as hard as that may be) because summer is all about colour! As much as I love the bold tones, I have a soft spot for pastels this season! The light lime greens, aquatic tones and the soft peaches remind me of Marie Antoinette and french macarons.
Here are some pastel must-haves for under $50 from Zara:
2. Pointed top with appliqués on the collar – $45.99
3. Skinny trousers with zip at hem – $39.99
4. Asymmetric fire pleated skirt – $39.99
Now for some street stye fun.
So what’s your colour crush?
Olivia Palermo is living the life any girl would dream of living. She’s seen sitting front row at the biggest fashion shows, constantly on the red carpet for movie premiers and dating a dreamy model from Germany! Did I mention that she has impeccable style? Whether she’s out for a stroll walking her dog or at a fashion event, Olivia is not afraid to experiment with her looks. Definitely a style icon.
Denim jackets, whether studded or fringed, shrunken or oversized, faded or bleached, seem to always be a trend. Now pairing your jean jacket with jeans can be a challenge. But if designers like Ralph Lauren and Banana Republic can do it right, then so can you. The trick to this undeniably cool look is to make sure you’re mixing both fabric weights and the washes. For example, pair a light wash, light weight chambray western shirt with a medium wash skinny jean. Just avoid doing a head-to-toe same wash at all costs.
Finding the perfect denim top or jacket can be a challenge. Here are some denim details that are in trend this season:
- Heavily washed denim for a vintage feel.
- Grey denim is the recent colour in trend.
- White denim always looks crisp and fresh.
- Denim motorcycle jackers, blazers and vests.
- Denim button down tops.
- Denim dresses.
Now for some award winning denim-on-denim looks!
