But let’s discuss Kim Kardashian and Paloma Faith’s Met Gala glove sleeves. It’s definitely a rare look and one that caught everyone by surprise, especially because not one but TWO ladies donned the look  down the Punk: Chaos to Couture red carpet.

I mean, it’s definitely “punk” but should it be a trend this or next season?

I personally am not a fan because it just looks uncomfortable and a nuisance when say, you have to use the bathroom. You’d have to take off EVERYTHING. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

The biggest night in fashion was held earlier this week in New York City. PUNK: Chaos to Couture, an exhibit organized by Andrew Bolton for The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, was the inspiration behind the red carpet fashion at the 2013 Met Gala.

The fashion was great but not exactly “punk” – though some of the guests did step up the attitude a notch. Some with spikes, others with hair dye and elaborate head pieces, but the majority kept it pretty, well, pretty.

After scavenging through a hundred plus photographs of A-listers, I curated a set of those who were brave enough to go punk. Here’s the best-of-the-best from the most fashionable red carpet event in the world.

Sarah Jessica Parker blurred the fine line between punk and couture in a Giles gown. I mean, just look at that mohawk hat by Phillip Treacy and custom plaid thigh-high Louboutins!

Obsessed with this hair-in-the-socket and mesh Marc Jacobs dress Miley Cyrus donned. Punk perfection!

Model of the Year, Cara Delevingne proves that spikes don’t need to be scary in this Burberry gown.

Anne Hathaway looks like a badass-punk in this vintage Valentino attire.

Rooney Mara mixes punk with a little bit of goth in Givenchy. Works for me!

As gorgeous as this custom Topshop dress is, Nicole Richie’s hair does all the punk-ing. Although, she should’ve gone a bit more blue than grey.

I actually have no plans. I’m looking at retail jobs to make some quick cash, thinking about starting a new fashion blog with my good friend Caryn, and praying someone will discover me to do something. Anything. Don’t really care what it is. As long as I get paid.

Walking the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show doesn’t automatically earn you Angel status but promoting the new collections would indicate you have.

Karlie Kloss joined official Angels, Candice Swanepoel and Alessandra Ambrosio, in Los Angeles this week to debut Victoria’s Secret’s 2013 swim collection. She also held a chat on Twitter with Victoria’s Secret and her fans using #AskAnAngel on Thursday, signalling her new status.

Kloss was also cast in her very first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last fall where she walked alongside veterans like Miranda Kerr and Erin Heatherton.

So I guess its no surprise she’s earned the title?

I personally am a big fan of Kloss but I don’t think she fits the role. She doesn’t have the curves that are required to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel. I’ve seen some of the new commercials and Kloss just does not fit in. She’s also missing the “sexy” element, which is what the brand stands for.

Lets see if the required extreme workouts sessions help her gain those curves.

Since the campaign celebrates 30 years of Diet Coke in Europe, Jacobs designed one can per decade. The newest commercial features Jacobs and a gaggle of fan girls time traveling in a photo booth.

The clothes were likely inspired by the Pope’s resignation as they were themed “the high church” – according to WWD. It referenced various religious iconography and recalled Queen Elizabeth I, communion gowns, and cardinal’s robes. But of course, baring the name Alexander McQuuen, the collection was a work of art with signature silhouettes and couture-like craftsmanship.

From piles of exquisite lace, to pearl-encrusted gowns, to what appear to be metal stockings that recalled last season’s honeycomb pattern, you almost wonder if more than ten looks would have been too much of a good thing.

The two teamed up with the sparkliest brand in town, Swarovski, who worked with not only the designers but the set designers on the film as well to incorporate the Swarovski crystals like they did with the 1939 favourite.

Did you know that Swarovski’s sparkly ruby crystals appeared on Dorothy’s iconic red slippers?

Elle reported that 260,000 crystals were used to create the 1700 (!) costumes in this film. Feast your eyes on the exclusive sketches from Disney of the leading ladies of Oz: The Great and Powerful.

A modern spin was used on some of the house’s codes by opting to render them in today’s fabrics of choice. For example, a 1949 Miss Dior strapless dress was done in subtle embroideries on leather and tulle, with a softer cut allowing the clothes a hint of freedom. A softer side and silhouettes that seemed more 1920s than ’50s.

The collection was almost like a scrapbook. It brought such different elements together – a practice, which can bring great freedom to artists. With this collection, Simons was not trying to bring the Dior archives back to life but rather looking at the house’s history.
