Resort collections have always been secondary occurrences to their ready-to-wear sibling. More casual, a tad more affordable – could resort be the way of the future? Many designers have started putting out their resort collections for 2013. Salvatore Ferragamo put on his first ever runway show at the Louvre in Paris to showcase his spring 2013 resort collection last night.
The collection was couture with a cool vibe. Think rock chic joins the party of chic classics. A number of summer fantasies were referenced throughout the collection merging 1970′s Big Sur, Greek Antiquity, and a touch of disco dancing.
Usage of sensual leather in pale colours, swinging suede fringes and tassels, winking droplets of silver, intricate weaves, chunky patches, flowy layers, and body-skimming acts made the collection that much more luxurious but read-to-wear.
Jessica Michault, editor-in-chief of Nowfashion said: “Cruise tends to be much more commercial–roughly 60 percent of turnover–but this collection felt both directional and wearable, and younger than I’ve ever seen it.”
